Food Stalls at the New World Food Centre
I wish
to draw your attention to the condition of the New World Food Centre.
2. Though the centre is popular with the
residents of this town and the food is relatively cheap, the cleanliness of
the place leaves much to be desired. Firstly, the floor is filthy. It appears
as if the hawkers rarely take the trouble to get it washed often. To make
matters worse, plates are left lying around on the dirty floor.
3. Secondly, the place is infested with
flies. This, I think, is due partly to the clogged drains around the centre. Sometimes,
the stench from the drains is terrible and that certainly spoils the evening
out. When it rains, the situation become worse.
4. I am sure that you would agree with me
that such unhygienic conditions would lead to health problems. Kulim has long
enjoy the reputation of being the cleanest town in our state and we should
try to maintain that image. The present state of affairs at the New World
Food Centre is certainly not going to contribute to that image!
5. My suggestion is that warnings should be
issued to those who fail to keep their stalls clean. Your workers too, can
help by making sure that the drains do not get clogged. With the cooperation
of both parties, there is no doubt that the situation can be improved.
I trust
that you will view this matter seriously and take whatever action that may be
necessary to make the food centre a more pleasant place for our residents.
